Shadi card matter in English, line by line
By the eInvite team · Updated · 6 min read

A Pakistani shadi card in English opens with Bismillah, names the hosting parents, says whose wedding it is with the other family's name, then gives each function's day, date, time and hall, and ends with "Your presence will be our honour" and one name for replies. Copy-ready card matter for every function is below.
"Card matter" is what printers in Pakistan and India call the text of the card. Most families write it in English, Urdu or both, and the order of the lines hardly changes from card to card. Here it is line by line, then as full cards you can copy.

- Your presence will be our honour.
- We look forward to celebrating with you.
- Your prayers and presence are requested.
- With best compliments from: the names of the grandparents, uncles or children of the family
Mistakes that cause phone calls
- No year, or the day and date don't match. Check the calendar twice.
- A hall name without its area and city.
- "After Maghrib" instead of a time. Write both if you like: "after Maghrib, 6:00 pm".
- Three phone numbers. Give one name to reply to.
- Running the Urdu through a translator. Ask a family elder to read it.
