Fairytale wedding

A nikah card with Bismillah and both families

The Eastern template opens with a blessing (Bismillah, or a verse) and names both families the way a printed nikah card does: the Siddiquis and the Qureshis, not just the couple. Below it are the date, the time the nikah will be read, and the place.

Many families keep the nikah small, at home or in a masjid, and the walima big. Your invitation can show the nikah only to close family and the walima to everyone. More on that below.

Nikah card wording in English and Urdu

A nikah card is short: Bismillah, the family hosting, the couple with their parents' names, the day, the time the nikah will be read (often "after Asr" or "after Maghrib", with the clock time next to it) and the masjid or hall. This one is from the bride's family. If the groom's family is hosting, swap the names: "the Nikah of their son Hamza with Ayesha (daughter of …)".

English, Urdu and Hindi on one card

Write your nikah invitation in English, then add the Urdu or Hindi wording. Guests choose their language at the top of the card, so your grandparents can read it in Urdu while your friends read it in English. The Urdu is set in Nastaliq, and it stays sharp because it's real text, not a picture.

Show the nikah only to the people invited

Make a personal link for each family. It opens the same invitation but shows only the functions that family is invited to. Close family see the nikah and the walima. Everyone else sees the walima.

Replies come back per function, so you know exactly how many people to expect at the nikah, which is often the event with the tightest space.

What guests can do from the card

Your nikah invitation does the small jobs that usually end up as phone calls:

  • Open the masjid or hall in Google Maps
  • Add the nikah to their phone's calendar
  • RSVP with how many people are coming
  • See dress notes and the seating arrangement
